Compared with other types of bulk material handling equipment, belt conveyors have many advantages. Some advantages are:
· Belt conveyors can be used to stack or recycle bulk materials. Radial stackers are used to produce large piles of materials such as wood chips, coal or ore. Recycling belt conveyors are located below the stack and are used to transport materials to the factory for processing.
· Belt conveyors can handle a wide range of materials, from very fine to large pieces. Use a belt conveyor to load very fine materials, such as Portland cement, to the dock. Large lump materials such as coal are transported from the mine using belt conveyors.
· Belt conveyors can be configured to fit almost any application. A belt conveyor can convey material levels, on slopes or a combination of both. Usually a single belt conveyor is used to convey the material horizontally for a certain distance, and then the material is raised on the inclined part of the belt conveyor, and then conveyed horizontally.
· The belt conveyor can be designed to handle any operation. Belt conveyors typically unload at a capacity of 10,000 tons per hour. Belt conveyors can also be designed for batching operations or to transfer small amounts of material between processes.
